Swipe

By Alicia Reese

She is here, loneliness.
I unlock my phone and open the app
in hope to find happiness.
Swipe left, swipe right.
I do not do it in hope of finding love,
only to fill the void that creeps in during the night.
Will she stay with me and fight?
Swipe left, swipe right, it’s a match.
She goes away, but only for a short time.
They say, “dtf?” and “send me nudes.” What a slime.
Swipe left, swipe right, unmatched.
She is back again and that is okay.
I made the bed where she lay.
